Nap Nanny infant recliner has been recalled after a baby died. A 4 month old girl from Michigan was found dead in one of the Nap Nanny infant recliner earlier this month. According to a report of U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission the girl who died was in the harness on the recliner but was found hanging over the side, stuck between a crib bumper and the Nap Nanny.
Nap Nanny baby recliners are made by Baby Matters. The company indicated that 30,000 of the recliners/sleep positioners are subject to the recall including those made in China and the U.S. and sold in USA for about $130. In all more than 21 incidents have been reported of accidents related to Nap Nanny infant recliners.
Nap Nanny baby recliners were loved by parents in USA as it used to give them freedom from sleepless nights for infants with reflux, colic and other issues.
According to report the main issue with the recliners is the ability of the infants to dislodge even though they are harnessed. If Velcro straps that hold down the cover are not put on correctly, the risk is greater. The earlier model of Nap Nanny did not have rings now found on the recliners to position the straps.
