Women love wearing gold. But after regular usage the gold tends to loose its shine and brightness and becomes dull. Here are a few tried and tested tips for polishing and shining gold ornaments without going for professional care.
Tips for polishing gold jewelery
- Mix a little baking soda and lukewarm water. Soak your gold ornament in it for 10 mins. Take an old toothbrush and gently rub to free the dirt on the surface. Wash it under cold running water and wipe off with a soft muslin cloth gently.
How to polish Gold jewellery
- Dissolve a sachet of a normal shampoo in warm water. Put your gold inside and brush it nicely to make the shine in the gold reappear.
- Dissolve a spoonful of turmeric in a glass full of water. Let it boil. This water becomes deep red in color. Take it off fire and add your gold ornaments. Let it cool off. Scrub as usual and wash it with cold water. Pat it dry
- Mix half teaspoon of turmeric in half glass vinegar. Don’t boil it. Keep your gold immersed for 5 mins and then brush it gently. Wash it with cold water.
- This is actually followed in every goldsmith’s shop. Immerse Ritha (soapnut) in warm water for an hour. Make sure that you crack the hard outer cover. When you have to polish gold you can simply brush the fruit with an old brush to gather some lather. Wash your gold ornaments in that lather and see them shine like new.
