  • If your nails have pits in them then more often than not the reason could be Psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin condition which makes it inflammatory and full of red scaly patches on it.
  • If your nails are a spoon shape that is concave in nature then it signifies iron deficiency in the body.
  • Peeling of nails is due to lack of linoleic acid which can be obtained through vegetable oils.
  • Nails are brittle due to lack of iron and vitamin B. over exposure to water can also be one of the probable reasons.
  • Nails look yellow either due to use of cheap quality nail polishes or the person might be suffering from lung disease or diabetes.
  • Very thick nails also indicate circulation problems.
  • Splitting and fraying nails are a symptom of Vitamin C deficiency, psoriasis, or lack of folic acid and proteins.
  • Vertical ridges appear due to arthritis.
  • White stripes across the nail indicate liver or heart disease.
  • Oxygen deficiency in the body) leads to clubbing – i.e. the nails curve down around the fingertips and the nail bed itself bulges.
  • Dark nails signalize about B12 deficiency.
  • Pale or white nails indicate anemia or problems with the kidneys/liver.
