Role of women in independence

Fighting for national causes is something where both men and women have participated equally. Those were the times when women were not allowed to even step out o the house. Numerous faceless women have helped in the struggle for Indian  Independence by supporting their men folk and sacrificing their own personal and family life.

There are a handful of women who were educated even in those days. Such women have inspired other womenfolk to actively participate in these movements. Over generations women have endured a lot in terms of certain mal-practices like sati pratha. Devadasis and the purdah system exist even to this day. Despite these problems women have done a lot in terms of helping the men folk of the nation to fight their battles.
