Tattoos were once considered permanent but it is now possible to remove them with treatments, fully or partially. The expense and pain of removing tattoos is considerably greater than that of applying them. According to a recent poll about 17% of people in United States with tattoos experience some regret. Similar polls were conducted in different parts of the world and 19% of British people with tattoos suffered regret, as did 11% of Italian people with tattoos.
Some of the commonly practiced tattoo removal techniques are given below.
Laser Treatment removal of tattoos
This can be used to lighten the tattoos more easily and effectively. This technique requires several visits during a period of a few months. This method of treatment might cause some individuals experience lightening of the natural skin coloring, in the affected area. It can not be guaranteed that this will remove the tattoo 100%. It is a painful procedure therefore patients are normally given a local anesthetic gel prior to undergoing the laser treatment It is also reported to cause allergic reactions to the individuals who have taken laser treatments to remove the tattoos. It should also be noted that laser tattoo removal usually requires multiple treatments and can cause scarring, blisters or scabs.
Dermabrasion or Salabrasion
This technique of tattoo removal involves abrading layers of skin with a wire brush or diamond fraise, which is a type of sanding disc. The main drawback of this method is that it may leave a scar on the skin. Dermabrasion is when the skin is basically sanded after being sprayed with a numbing solution. Salabrasion is the method in which a salt solution is used to remove the pigment of tattoos. This technique is sometimes used in conjunction with dermabrasion. However this method of tattoo removal is not very popular. This method is very similar to dermabrasion, except here they apply a salt water solution to the skin before they grind or abrade the skin. These two methods can be very painful, cause peeling and bleeding and are not as effective as some other tattoo removal options.
Surgical Removal of tattoos
In this method the doctor needs to cut down to through several layers of skin and cut out the tattoo. The skin is either stretched and stitched up or a skin graph is done. The tattoos that are large in size may require repeated surgery for complete removal.
Scarification of tattoos
This is the technique in which the tattoo is removed with an acid solution. The acidic solution used in this method creates a scar on the place of tattoo after removing it.
DIY removal creams for tattoos
The opinion on the effectiveness of tattoo removal cream varies. Most people are not even aware of the fact that the Tattoo Removal Institute does recommend a couple different creams that they state are very effective.
TCA or Trichloroacetic acid for tattoos removal
This is an acid that you apply to the skin. Originally this acid was used to force the skin to exfoliate. This technique does not get rid of the tattoo overnight. It will slowly fade the tattoo. It’s not painful like laser or dermabrasion. It has been used for years for numerous other skin imperfections from warts to stretch marks.

My nephew just got a tattoo. It looked great and it had meaning for him. So it made sense. I took him out for a beer to celebrate. My niece went with us and she asked me what I thought about her getting a tattoo. I told her absolutely not. Any other male chauvanist pigs out there that think women are beautiful just they way they are.
