Tips to get rid of bad breath

  • Clean your tongue gently twice daily is the most effective way to keep bad breath in control. You can use a tongue cleaner to wipe off the bacterial food debris, and mucus. You can also use a spoon inverted to scrap off the mucous on the tongue.
  • Eating a healthy breakfast with rough foods helps clean the back of the tongue. This is not a very effective method but does help in controlling bad breath.
  • Chewing sugarless gum can help with the production of saliva, and thereby help to reduce bad breath. Chewing may help particularly when the mouth is dry. Production of saliva washes away oral bacteria has antibacterial properties and promotes mechanical activity which helps cleanse the mouth.
  • Chewing on fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks or fresh parsley are common remedies for bad breath
  • Gargling before bedtime with an effective mouthwash. Make sure that you refrain from using mouthwash directly after tooth brushing with paste.
  • Maintain proper oral hygiene as in daily tongue cleaning, brushing your tooth and flossing.
