Pani Puri recipe is one of the most eaten Indian street food snack and is the most favorite item among the youth especially for the college goers. PaniPuri snack also called as Gol Gappa or Puchka, is the most popular chaat item. This Pani Puri is one of those items which cannot be eaten just once.
For some people this item is regular in their diet as they come out from the offices, colleges directly go down to this chaat stall and order as many as they want as this an unique item involved with lot of water. lets check out the ingredients which it needs.
Semolina (Rava / Suji) – 1 cup
Fine Wheat Flour (Maida) – 3 tblsp
Baking Soda – 1/4 tsp
Oil to deep fry
Ingredients for pani:
- Tamarind (Imli) Pulp – 1/2 cup
- Water – 2 cups
- Roasted Cumin Seed (Jeera) Powder – 2 tblsp
- Un-roasted Cumin Seed (Jeera) – 2 tblsp
- Coriander Leaves
- Green Chilly (Hari Mirch) – 3
- Mint Leaves (Pudina Leaves) Chutney – 2 tblsp
- Black Salt (kala namak ) – 1 tblsp
- Jaggary (Gur) – 2 tblsp
How to prepare pani:
Pick up all ingredients and adjust spices and tangyness to taste.
Filter through a wire strainer to pull off any rough bits.
To make puri:
Pick up sooji, maida, baking soda, salt, water to mix and make soft dough.
Covered dough with wet cloth for 15 minutes.
Make small sized balls.
Spinklin some dry maida or sooji, roll into thin rounds.
Now pick up a pan and haet oil in it and deep fry puris till very light brown and crisp on the slow flame
Put all puris in a paper towel to dry out the oil.
Store in an airtight container when cool.
Masala to put into Puri
- Onion – 1 chopped finely
- Potatoes – 2
- Chilly powder -1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – a pinch
- Well boiled Sprouted green gram – 1/2 cup
- Mint chutney – 2 tbsp
- Sweet chutney – 2 tbsp
- Sev or Oma podi – 1/4 cup
- Salt to taste
Mash the boiled potatoes and mix up with turmeric, chilli powder and salt, green gram, put aside.
Finger a small hole in the centre of each puri. Put mashed potato paste in it along with mint chutney, sweet chutney and then chopped onion and also add sev and dip in the prepared pani.
Serve quickly before it melts down and enjoy the sensation of the sweet tangy and spicy mix up.
