Rainy Season dampens once immunity and makes at risk to many diseases common during this season. Rainy season obvious out of control and spread the diseases. The diseases produce during the rainy season because people eat some incorrect food during this time and fall sick.
Maintain the general hygiene while eating out and definitely avoid roadside sellers as very few people have the high immunity to handle the bacterial overload at such places.
Avoid foods which are very sour like tamarind, chutneys and pickles as they promote water preservation.
In rainy season Hot water is better than cold water for drinking. Hot water helps in digestion and also improves the digestion efficiency.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are ideal for rainy season, so go for freshly cooked food to improve the immune of the body.
Add ginger, garlic, asafoetida and turmeric in the food to improve the immune of the body.
Wash all green vegetables thoroughly as a lot of worms and insects are hidden in the leafy vegetables.
Avoid salads or choose warm/steamed salads as there are many infectious organisms in this season.
Consume a lot of bitter vegetables like bitter gourd (karela) and bitter herbs like neem (basil), methi (fenugreek) seeds, haldi (turmeric) as it prevents infection.
The milk is the better diet in rainy season. Avoid taking curds, instead have buttermilk. Drink butter milk as it improve digestion.
Avoid taking heavy fried foods. Oily food should be taken in less quantity, if Oily food is avoided it is good health for rainy season.
Avoid heavy, salty food as it endorses water preservation and bloating. It is better to have medium to low salt food.
Avoid heavy oils like mustard oil, peanut oil and sesame oil in rainy season.
Eat light foods like vegetables, fruits, cereals etc and avoid too much of meat or fish. One can also enjoy grilled, Tandoori foods which need minimum oil/butter.
Because the feet tend to get wet all the time, it is very important for everybody and especially diabetics to take a special foot care during rainy season. When feet get wet, make sure to dry them immediately. It is better to wear footwear inside home during rainy season. Make sure to use footwear with good grip to avoid slip and fall. Consider buying new footwear.
Enjoy the tea and pakoras in wonderful rainy season, but make sure that rest of the diet is healthy!
